Neurology
The Ken and Ruth Davee Department of Neurology provides world-class, comprehensive care for a full range of neurological disorders, including epilepsy and movement disorders, ALS, multiple sclerosis, sleep disorders, and Alzheimer’s disease. 

The Northwestern Medicine Neurology program is one of the nation’s premier destinations for diagnosis and treatment of neurologic diseases. Anchored by Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the leading Neurology and Neurosurgery Program in Illinois for 12 straight years and a top-ten program in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, 2018-19, Northwestern Medicine is on a relentless pursuit of better neurology care. Northwestern Memorial Hospital is a leading academic medical center, ranked among the best hospitals in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Many of our specialists are recognized worldwide as leaders in their field. Our goal is to provide the highest level of care possible to our patients. We achieve this through a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment, as well as leading-edge research designed to slow symptom progression, improve quality of life and find a cure for neurological disorders. Our patients benefit from direct access to an extensive array of ongoing clinical trials.

Centers and Programs

Comprehensive Epilepsy Center
We are a designated National Association of Epilepsy Centers, Level 4 Epilepsy Center. We specialize in intractable seizures and offer advanced treatments, including surgery. Our Women With Epilepsy program is a nationally recognized for expertise in the care of women with seizure disorders.

Northwestern Medicine Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center
We are recognized by the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) as a worldwide Center of Excellence. We offer comprehensive care for Huntington’s disease, and are one of only a handful of Wilson Disease Centers of Excellence in the world.

Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center
We offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for ALS. A team of dedicated experts works with each patient to design the best plan of care possible. Our goal is to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life for patients with ALS.

Stroke Center 
We offer comprehensive care for stroke and cerebrovascular disease, including advanced diagnostic imaging, treatment and rehabilitation. Our multidisciplinary team is experienced in treating complex cases requiring advanced technology, specialized diagnosis and higher levels of treatment.

Women’s Neurology Center 
We are one of only a small number of neurology programs in the United States that has a center focused specifically on the needs of women. We specialize in the treatment of women at all stages of life.

Rehabilitation Options
Our Neurology program works closely with the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, formerly the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), the No. 1 rehabilitation hospital in the United States. And in the western suburbs of Chicago, Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Northwestern Medicine, offers inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation on a 60-acre wooded campus named one of the 20 most beautiful hospitals in America by Soliant Health. Marianjoy offers specialized programs and state-of-the-art technology in centers such as the Marianjoy Assistive Rehabilitation Technology Institute (MARTI) and Tellabs Center for Neurorehabilitation and Neuroplasticity (TCNN).
