Daniel Derman, MD
Chief Innovation Officer and Sr. Vice President
Northwestern Medicine

Dr. Derman has been a practicing internal medicine physician since 1988. He was appointed President of Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group and remained in this position throughout 2015. Since that time he has served as a Senior Vice President and the Chief Innovation Executive for Northwestern Medicine. In addition to his clinical responsibilities and innovation work, he leads International Health and the Executive Health Program. Dr. Derman trained at the University of Michigan for his undergraduate studies and the University of Illinois for medical studies.

Peter Lechman, MD, MBA

Dr. Lechman is responsible for provider operations for 160 primary care providers in 11 sites. He is a Member of Clinical Faculty at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and The Lurie Children’s Hospital at Northwestern. An important role for Dr. Lechman is supervising and teaching pediatric resident physicians. Dr. Lechman earned a BS from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Business Administration from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine.

Abdul Aziz Aadam, MD

Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology​

Dr. Aadam is an interventional gastroenterologist with specialized expertise in gastrointestinal oncology as well as complex pancreas and biliary disorders. He is part of a multi-disciplinary team that incorporates the latest research and state of the art technology into a patient centered comprehensive care plan. He is active in clinical research and has been invited to present his work at several national conferences. Dr. Aadam has undergone additional training to perform advanced endoscopic procedures such as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), ERCP, and stent placement within the GI tract. He is currently leading the initiative in endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD). ESD allows for the removal of early cancers in the gastrointestinal tract using a flexible endoscope as an alternative to invasive surgery in certain situations.

Susan Helfrich, MBA, RN
Director of Operations, International Health
Northwestern Medicine

Susan started her career in direct patient care, then leveraged her knowledge in clinical care, systems and operations to take on larger strategic roles. She has extensive leadership experience in operations, administration, planning and development, and has played an integral role in the activation of several outpatient facilities around Chicago and in Doha. At Northwestern Medicine, she uses her expertise to identify and launch the next generation of clinical and business solutions. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Saint Louis University and a Master of Business Administration from The University of Notre Dame.

Lindsey Kreutzer, MPH
Program Director, International Health
Northwestern Medicine

As Program Director of International Health, Lindsey’s primary focus is to oversee and motivate a team of care coordinators, financial coordinators, interpreters and administrative staff. Lindsey previously led the Northwestern Medicine Quality Innovation Center and has expertise in implementation of health system-level initiatives to improve quality utilizing research-based methodologies. She applies her quality and research expertise to International Health Global Advisory and Consultative Services. Lindsey holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, International Studies and Global Health from Northwestern University and a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology and Global Health from Boston University.
